Recycling is important because...
You may have heard recycling here and there, and today, I will let you know more about recycling on the Earth. Recycling is a method that includes the collection and breaking down waste material to create something new out of it.
We need recycling for many reasons. Recycling saves a lot of energy because many things that we recycle can easily be converted into a variety of items we require. We can convert used plastic bottles into flower pots and use glass bottles to make into pencil boxes. The more recycling, the more we can help the population of animal species, specifically the ones in the ocean. Because recycling reduces the amount of toxic that is put into the ocean and buried in the ground. It assists us to save our planet.
The recycled material can be rented/sold. We use this recycled material for many new products. So, eventually, recycling also saves money.
Paper is the most popular material on Earth. Paper is made out of two materials; Water, and wood. For recycling paper, they first break it down in small pieces and dissolve it into water. The separated paper is then washed with soapy water to remove inks, plastic film, staples, and glue. By adding different materials paper, products can be created, such as cardboard, or office paper.
The metal is first taken to a yard, called the "scrap metal yard". Then, the metals are shredded into small pieces and were melted. After that, the metal was remolded into new shapes and sizes.
Glass can be recycled by crushing, blending, and melting it together with coal, sand, and other starting materials. Each year, only one-third of the roughly 10 million tons of glass that Americans throw away is recycled.
Unlike the other materials, plastic is not melted to recycle. If you melt plastic, you might get poisoned. However, there are two ways to recycle plastic. Mechanical Recycling (chop and wash) is where the plastic is washed, and grounded into powders. Then, the powder is melted. When the powder is melted, it forms a gel, and the gel is shaped and dried into different shapes. In Chemical Recycling, the plastic will be broken down into a basic essential. Some plastic products are also separated by color before they are recycled into regular plastic.
Recycling can help many habitats from the ocean to the ground. It can help many endangered animals, like the blue whale. Recycling can help many things, including us!
