Peter and Wendy (Peter Pan) excerpt

In the fiction excerpt titled “Come Away, Come Away,” (from Peter Pan/Peter and Wendy) Peter first enters the room looking for his shadow with Tinker Bell making sure not to wake the children in the room.

Tinker Bell said that Peter’s shadow was in the big box. Peter jumps at the box which meant the chest of drawers taking everything out of them and finding his shadow, closing Tinker's bell up in the drawer. Peter tries to stick his shadow back on with soap, but when the soap doesn’t work, Peter begins to cry.

Peter’s crying awakens Wendy, and the two of them introduce themselves to each other. Wendy learns that Peter lives in a strange, faraway place.  Next, Peter reveals that he does not have a mother and does not want one. Then he tells Wendy he cannot attach his shadow.  Wendy sews Peter’s shadow up to his foot. Finally, Peter tells Wendy that girls are more useful than boys.
